WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
You’ve heard the numbers. There are over 4.7 million Latinx-owned businesses contributing over $700 billion to the U.S. economy every year. They employ over 3 million people. Latinx also accounted for 82% of U.S. workforce growth between 2010-2017, despite being less than 20% of the population. Latinx consumers in the U.S. control a total of $1.5 trillion in buying power.
Remember: Money = Power. We have the buying power to drive the change we want to see in the world. In the words of the incomparable Cardi B, let’s secure the bag.
HOW TO TAKE ACTION:
This directory originally debuted as a special issue in 2018 for Latina Equal Pay Day but based on demand, it expanded and now features over 150 Latinx entrepreneurs across gender, race and sexuality, and a browsable Map. Let’s take action together and put money directly into the Latinx community. Here’s how:
If you're a business owner, compensate Latina employees fairly. In fact, compensate all your employees fairly. We should be getting paid what your cis White male employees make, if not more. It's not like we don't put in 10x the effort.
If you are looking for products or services, buy from Latinx and Latina-owned business. Our updated map and directory has done the work for you and has over 150 Latinx entrepreneurs of different genders, races and industries around the country. At least 80% of the directory is Latina-owned.
If you can't financially support, go follow their businesses on social, or share their website and social accounts, or tell your friends + family about them.
